30 Days of Lists is coming! Beginning at the start of next month, I’ll be creating daily lists inspired by whatever prompts the lovely bloggers behind the programme send my way. This is such a simple idea that worked oh so well for me last September. It kind of took over my month a little bit, but the book I created in that time is now so precious.
I often look enviously at the pages other people create in travel journals, Project Life, or scrap-booking and wish I had time to organise all my memories so creatively. Being realistic, I just don’t; if I were to spend the amount of time some people do capturing the details and events of their lives, I would have to give up something vital, like work, or socialising, or sleep. And I sort of need to do all of these things to stay healthy, sane, and not a bank robber.
Handily, this list project requires a lot less time, and is concentrated into just 30 days of intense crafting fun. Some days if I have time I might make a super busy and fun page, but I’m OK with just putting pen to paper and writing a straight forward list every now and then too, since real life takes priority.
Here’s what I’m hoping to get out of March 2013’s Thirty Days of Lists:
Getting my blogging mojo back – this post is breaking one of the longest dry spells of blogging since it started! I’ve been super busy for the last month doing really interesting and varied social activities, exercising and getting much fitter, working hard (not robbing banks, for the record) and Internet dating (which I will definitely tell you more about sometime soon). These things have totally absorbed all my spare time; I’ve been collapsing into bed every evening and practically passing out from exhaustion. In a fun way. But I do miss blogging, and my ‘ideas’ list just keeps growing, and growing, and growing.
Using up some alphabets – I went totally nuts on eBay recently and bought multiple pizza-boxes of alphabet stickers and thickers from a crafter having a mammoth clear-out. Bargain! All those amazing alphabet sets! Taking up so much space on my bedroom floor!
Broadening my blog reading – Last time I did this I discovered a bunch of new bloggers who I felt I got to know through the listing process. Fingers crossed there are even more this time. You know I’ll post about them if there are.
Forming creative habits – I find I’m doing much less craft now than I used to in my old flat. Maybe something about sharing a living room? Hopefully this will help me overcome the fear of list-making in public!
Bonding with my mama – This year I also signed up my mum, who loves lists so much we nicknamed her List Woman a few years ago. For her birthday in January I made her a 6×6″ minibook and put together a box of fun papers, embellishments, washi tape and alphabet sets, to help encourage her inner creativity. She’s been wanting to become more crafty so I hope this is just the ticket. I’m seriously looking forward to seeing what she puts together – I’m hoping she’ll share some pages over at the blog I have thrust upon her, which is naturally titled “List Woman!”
